Meowven OS is in early development. Start in a virtual machine with a disposable disk. Disk installation, installed reboot, and physical hardware remain unverified.

Release details

Hyprland 0.2.0 was released on 6 October 2026. Plasma remains at 0.1.0. Both images target x86_64 PCs (64-bit Intel and AMD). Read the Hyprland 0.2.0 notes or the Plasma 0.1.0 notes for build details and test limits.

Verify your image

Download the checksums for your edition: Hyprland 0.2.0 SHA256SUMS or Plasma 0.1.0 SHA256SUMS. Put the matching file in the same folder as your ISO. On Linux, run:

What has been checked?

Hyprland 0.2.0 passed a fresh UEFI boot in QEMU with KVM and Virgl at 1920×1080. All 23 live checks passed, including the active original wallpaper, exact captured palette, fonts, shell layers, and Meowven OS identity. Kitty, Rofi, Thunar, the dashboard, wallpaper chooser, notifications, and power-menu cancellation were checked; ameow shut down the VM. The release notes record non-blocking VM warnings and checks still outstanding.

The Plasma 0.1.0 image passed checksum verification and a fresh UEFI boot in QEMU with KVM and Virgl. KDE Plasma on X11, Konsole, Fastfetch branding, the wallpaper, and desktop smoke checks passed. Calamares reached its Welcome page and cancelled cleanly without writing to the VM disk; ameow shut down the VM successfully.

Neither edition has completed disk-installation or installed-reboot testing. Physical hardware, encryption, and alongside installation remain unverified. Secure Boot signing is not configured. Read the testing guide before trying an image.

Build from source

Download and verify the Hyprland 0.2.0 source archive. Read its README.md for the Arch container toolchain and docs/HYPRLAND.md for the desktop, then run:

MEOWVEN_EDITION=hyprland bash scripts/build-container.sh

Use a Linux x86_64 host. Outputs go to dist/hyprland/. To build the Plasma release, use the 0.1.0 source archive with MEOWVEN_EDITION=plasma. Arch packages change over time, so new builds may differ from the published images and need their own checks.

Updates and previous releases

Arch packages receive updates through the configured Arch repositories. Meowven OS custom packages are currently built with the ISO; a public Meowven package repository has not been set up.

The earlier Hyprland 0.1.0 ISO and its original checksums remain available.
